Concordia Place FAQ
(Early Learning, Preschool, School-Age 365, and Teen Leadership)

What ages do your programs serve?

Concordia Place offers programs for children and teens from 6 weeks through 18 years old.

  • Early Learning (6 weeks–5 years) helps children build a strong foundation for school and life.
  • School-Age 365 (ages 5–12) provides before- and after-school care plus full-day programs during school breaks.
  • Teen Leadership (ages 13–18) helps young people explore who they are, develop leadership skills, and plan for the future.

What makes Concordia Place different from other childcare centers?

We go beyond childcare — we build community. Our programs focus on the whole child, nurturing social-emotional growth, curiosity, and confidence. We also believe that all families deserve access to high-quality care and learning, so we offer sliding scale tuition and welcome families from all backgrounds.

What is your educational philosophy?

We follow a play-based, developmentally appropriate approach that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and independence. Teachers guide children through hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions, helping them learn by doing.

What are your teacher qualifications?

Our teachers are experienced early childhood and youth educators who meet or exceed state licensing requirements. Many hold degrees in Early Childhood Education or related fields, and all participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.

What is the teacher-to-child ratio?

We maintain low ratios to ensure individualized attention and strong relationships:

  • Infants: 1:4
  • Toddlers: 1:5
  • Preschoolers: 1:10
  • School-Age: 1:15

Do you provide meals and snacks?

Yes! We serve healthy, balanced meals and snacks prepared on-site, following DCFS and USDA nutrition guidelines. We can accommodate most allergies and dietary needs.

What safety measures do you have in place?

Safety is our top priority. All staff are trained in CPR and first aid, and our buildings are secured with controlled entry systems. We conduct regular emergency drills and maintain close communication with families during any situation.

What is the Teen Leadership program about?

Our Teen Leadership and Ruckus Entrepreneurs programs provide a safe, empowering space for teens to explore identity, build job skills, and lead community projects. Teens learn entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and leadership — skills that prepare them for success in school, work, and life.

Do you offer part-time or drop-in options?

We primarily offer full-day, year-round enrollment, but some locations may have part-time or school-day-only options depending on space and age group. Please contact your preferred location for details.

How can I learn more or schedule a tour?

We’d love to meet you! You can schedule a tour online or call your preferred location directly. We’ll walk you through our classrooms, introduce you to teachers, and answer any questions.

Enrollment & Tuition FAQ

How do I enroll my child?

Start by submitting an inquiry form or contacting your preferred Concordia Place location. We’ll schedule a tour, walk you through program options, and guide you through the application and enrollment process.

Is there a waitlist?

Yes, some age groups or locations may have a waitlist. If your preferred program is full, we’ll place your family on the list and notify you when a space opens.

What are your tuition rates?

Tuition varies by age, schedule, and location. Please reach out to your preferred center for a detailed rate sheet.

Do you offer financial assistance?

Yes. Concordia Place offers sliding scale tuition based on household income and accepts Action for Children (Child Care Assistance Program). We’re committed to making quality early learning and youth programs accessible to all families.

When is tuition due, and how can I pay?

Tuition is billed weekly, and payments can be made via ACH withdrawal or by check. Automated payment options are also available for convenience.

What is your withdrawal policy?

We ask for a four-week written notice if you plan to withdraw your child. This helps us prepare for transitions and offer the space to another family.

What documents are needed for enrollment?

You’ll need your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, medical form, and emergency contacts. We’ll provide all required forms during the enrollment process.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Yes! We offer a sibling discount for families with more than one child enrolled. Details may vary by program — ask your site director for specifics.

Can I visit before enrolling?

Absolutely — we encourage it! Touring gives you a firsthand look at our classrooms, teachers, and community in action. You can schedule a visit online or by calling your preferred location.
