Migrant Family Resources

In August, 2023, Concordia Place began enrolling migrant families in our Home Visiting, Early Childhood Education & Care and School-Age 365 programs.  Working with two area shelters we have enrolled 69 families to date. When families enroll, team members conduct a family needs assessment to understand their need so that we are better able to serve these families.   The Concordia team developed a Resource Guide to help families obtain the resources that they need.

Seeing the vast needs of migrant families, Concordia Ministries started a Migrant Task Force to help ensure that our cities’ migrant families felt welcomed into the communities that we serve.  In addition to planning welcome events for the families, the task force started a collection of most needed personal and hygiene items to distribute to families.

Community Baby Shower

The first annual community baby shower organized by Senator Natalie Toro and hosted at Concordia Place was a great success! We were excited to partner with several fantastic organizations including Lurie Children’s Hospital,Irving Park Community Food Pantry, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Bright Start College Savings, Chicago Commons, After School Matters , and Metropolitan Family Services. These organizations provide valuable resources and support for local families.
