Meet our Teachers: Miss Frenchy
Our Lead Infant Teacher at Concordia on Ravenswood joined the team in February 2018. Miss Frenchy earned her Associate’s degree in Finance, and she went on to earn both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education.
What inspired you to become a teacher?
I fell in love with Greek mythology when I was in sixth grade and decided to become a high school early world history teacher. When I was in high school, I thought about becoming an English teacher instead. It wasn’t until I began working in childcare that I realized that I decided to teach early childhood.
What aspects of teaching do you find most rewarding?
I have spent the majority of my career in early childhood working with infants. Every time one of my kids reaches a new milestone, it makes me incredibly proud of them. Whether they are rolling over, scooting around, or heck, even high-fiving, I find it all incredibly rewarding. I still feel this way even after have worked with close to 100 infants!
Can you share a specific moment or experience in your career that made you feel proud or fulfilled?
Earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I did not think that I would be able to go back to school while working full-time. I am incredibly thankful for my directors, coworkers, and families (current and former) who pushed me and supported me along the way. The years of experience that I had in the field helped me tremendously in achieving my educational dreams.
What do you hope children and parents remember most from their time in your classroom?
That I always loved, cared for, and advocated for my students. And that I will always carry them in my heart, years after they leave my classroom.
