Throughout the years, Concordia Place has been blessed with people who bring their experience and leadership skills to our mission in Chicago, expanding the number of people and communities we serve. I’m pleased that longtime Concordia Place Board Member, Kim Boike, demonstrates the Concordia Place guiding principle a Place of Yes by saying “yes” to the critical leadership role of Board Chair.
Kim’s experience working with nonprofit and healthcare clients on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues is a valuable asset in her role as Board Chair. I have full faith she will diligently guide Concordia Place’s future in this next phase of strategic growth.
Other leadership elected at our annual meeting included Kate Ansorge, IFF, as Vice Chair; Karen Semone, Salesforce, as Secretary; and Andy Waters, soon to be of Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA, as Treasurer.
This is not my retirement, but part of a proactive initiative that Concordia Place and Concordia Church started several years ago. Although I’m a founder of Concordia Place, the leadership cannot and should not just be me. We wanted to make room for more leaders; and we wanted ways for current leaders to be more deeply engaged in our vision to create bigger and better tomorrows for the children, teens, and families of our communities.
As pastor of Concordia Church, I remain actively involved on the Concordia Place Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Rest assured; I’m not going anywhere.
I hope you will join me in welcoming and giving thanks for Kim and the other officers as they take on their leadership roles.
As a learning organization, Concordia Place is committed to continued improvement. We have learned that distinguishing between the Concordia Place and Concordia Day brands was not necessary.
Starting May 1, all visitors to concordiaday.org will be redirected to day.concordiaplace.org
By unifying around the sole use of the Concordia Place brand, we will provide clarity and focus on our mission to serve families and provide both care and education for their children.
